NCST WOMEN IN SCIENCE BREAKFAST

From 4th to 10th November 2019, NCST partnered with the Next Einstein Forum (NEF) to organize a Science Week themed “Open Science, Leaving No One Behind”.

The Science Week featured multiple activities aimed at raising awareness on the role of Science, and Technology to the community. Among the activities was the “NCST Women in Science Breakfast” which took place on 5th November 2019, that was attended by 120 women and girls mostly scientists and students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Excellent research Grant - NCST awarded Winners

KIGALI, RWANDA – National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) awarded grants to research projects under the “Excellent Research” theme. In a ceremony held at Marriot Hotel, 11 projects in health, agriculture and information communication technology (ICT) applied to health to the tune of around 50 million Rwandan francs each.

From 22nd to 24th July 2019, the National Council for Science and Technology (NCST), with the support of the Science Granting Council Initiative (SGCI) and the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA), has organized a 3-days training workshop on “How to write fundable Research grant proposals”.

The objective of this training workshop was to strengthen the skills and knowledge of researchers in writing fundable research proposals.

National Research and Innovation Fund Launched

NRIF

The National Research and Innovation Fund (NRIF) was officially launched on Wednesday 13th June 2018.

The launch was officiated by the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Dr Edouard Ngirente. Top government officials, scholars and researchers took part in the event that coincided with the Rwanda National Research and Innovation Symposium.

In line with the African Union (AU) Agenda 2063 and furtherance of its development aspirations; the East African Community (EAC) recognizes the fundamental role of Science and Technology in economic development. Chapter 16, Article 103, of the EAC treaty, provides for Partner States to promote cooperation in the development and application of Science and Technology within the Community.
